This year we are travelling to Risoul!

Snowsports Exeter is one of the UK’s largest and most dynamic university snowsports clubs, bringing together over 1,200 members with a shared passion for the mountains. Whether it’s skiing, snowboarding, freestyle, racing, or adaptive skiing, SSX offers opportunities for complete beginners through to national-level athletes.

Our annual European trips are the highlight of the year—over 1,000 students take over top resorts for a week that feels more like a festival, with huge slope-side events, headline acts, and unforgettable après. Back in Exeter, members have weekly training in freestyle and race, giving everyone the chance to push their skills further on home turf.

We’re also behind Chill Hill — a one of a kind event where we transport 50 tonnes of snow to the Exeter campus, transforming it into a mini mountain for a full day of skiing, snowboarding, and live music.

What is student snowsports?

This year, we’ve got big plans to take SSX to the next level. Our legendary Easter trip is heading to a brand-new resort, with a stacked events lineup, huge headliners, and all the energy of a festival week. We’re also buzzing to bring back Chill Hill, the largest student-run event on campus, where we’ll transport 50 tonnes of snow to Exeter and transform campus into a ski slope for the day, and we have loads of new ideas to build on last year’s success. Closer to home, we want to get more beginners involved than ever before, making it simple for anyone to give snowsports a go through more beginner sessions and support. At the same time, we’re aiming high on the competitive side, building on last season’s success to train harder and fight for more BUCS medals in both race and freestyle.
