Ski Holidays in La Rosiere

The traditional village of La Rosière is located in the heart of the Haute Tarentaise at 1,850m. Perched high on a sunny plateau above Bourg St Maurice, it earned the local moniker ‘the balcony of the Tarentaise’ due to its vantage point that offers breathtaking views.

La Rosière offers a charming Alpine experience with its family-friendly atmosphere and picturesque surroundings. The ski area boasts wide slopes and excellent intermediate terrain, catering well to skiers of various levels. Guests can enjoy modern facilities including ski-in/ski-out accommodations, restaurants serving local cuisine, and cosy après-ski venues for relaxation after a day on the slopes. Located at 1850m in the middle of the Haute Tarentaise, La Rosiere along with the neighbouring La Thuile in Italy, form part of the Espace San Bernardo ski area. Perched on the sunny flank of the upper Tarentaise Valley above Bourg St Maurice, it’s nicknamed ‘the balcony of the Tarentaise’ due to its gorgeous geographical setting.

VIEW MAP

La Rosière combines breathtaking scenery, excellent skiing opportunities, and modern amenities, making it an appealing destination for winter sports enthusiasts. The resort also offers a relaxed après-ski atmosphere, featuring cosy lounges, mountain-view restaurants, and occasional live music events, providing an ideal setting for unwinding after a day on the slopes.

Situated close to the Petit St Bernard pass, La Rosiere is usually the highest point accessible by road when this iconic border crossing closes in winter due to the heavy snowfall it experiences thanks to its position next to Mont Blanc. With a good choice of comfortable family-oriented accommodations, La Rosiere is the perfect ski resort for any family that wants to chill out, take advantage of quality slopes that are much less crowded than some of the more well-known neighbouring resorts, and socialise in a serene atmosphere amidst stunning Alpine scenery.

In a Nutshell

La Rosière is a charming, family-friendly ski resort located on the French side of the Espace San Bernardo ski area that it shares with La Thuile across the border in Italy. Sitting at an impressive altitude of 1,850 metres, the ski area covers up to 152 kilometres of snowsure pistes that climb as high as 2,800 metres. It has an excellent snowfall record and its high altitude ensures great conditions on the slopes. It is also often referred to as the “The Balcony Of The Tarentaise” thanks to its sunny, south-facing slopes which overlook the entire valley. Although smaller and quieter than its larger and more popular counterparts in France's Tarentaise Valley, La Rosiere does offer a unique and absolutely fantastic skiing experience. Its location in the Alps allows skiers the privilege of enjoying its excellent snow conditions on pistes while soaking up the sun which bathes the valley all day. In addition, La Rosiere is also one of a handful of resorts that offers cross-border skiing. This means you ski across the border and enjoy a tasty, authentic pizza for lunch and still make it back in time for an evening fondue savoyarde!
